From June 2022, Microsoft has said it will no longer support its legacy web browser, Internet Explorer. As a result, we recommend our Epay clients and their employees use an alternative web browser to get the full Epay experience.
Recently, Microsoft announced plans to stop supporting its legacy web browser, Internet Explorer (IE). Instead, it is pushing people to use the more modern browsing experience given by Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Edge claims to be a faster and more secure way of browsing the internet and using online applications and services.
Microsoft Edge has Internet Explorer mode built-in so that you can access any legacy Internet Explorer-based websites and applications straight from Microsoft Edge.
The move to Microsoft Edge is said to bring improved compatibility, streamlined productivity and better browser security.
What does the move away from Internet Explorer mean for Epay clients?
The good news is, it’s likely most of your employees will already be using one of the most up to date web browsers. The top three browsers used in the UK are:
- Google Chrome (49.23%)
- Safari (33.12%)
- Microsoft Edge (6.25%)
If any employees are still using Internet Explorer to access Epay after June 2022, it’s likely they won’t notice any issues initially. However, once Microsoft stops supporting IE, users may start to see an impact. Unsupported browsers might not work with parts of HTML, JavaScript or other website coding, and as a result, the Epay site might appear incorrectly, or some features might not work as expected.
Epay supported browsers and systems
Epay is designed to fully support a wide range of the most commonly used web browsers on desktops, laptops, tablets and mobiles.
We recommend both administrators of your Epay portal and employees use the following browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Apple Safari
- Mozilla Firefox
- Microsoft Edge
We support modern, secure, standard-compliant browsers. While some of the Epay functionality may still work for older legacy browsers, we can’t guarantee the correct appearance or functionality of all Epay features.
We recommend that all Epay users upgrade their browsers to the latest versions as soon as available to your device. By doing so, you’ll get the best Epay experience, along with higher levels of security and better functionality.
Epay has been developed to recognised standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to improve accessibility for more people. Some earlier versions of web browsers do not support W3C standards, so they might not display the text and graphics correctly. This is why we always recommend using the latest versions.
