Epay without Payroll Change for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council

The Borough of Basingstoke and Deane covers an area of over 245 square miles within northern Hampshire. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council supports a population of just over 160,000 people.

The council has a diverse workforce of almost 600 people operating from different locations.

The challenge

Before working with Datagraphic, the payroll team printed and distributed their payslips in-house. Each pay period, they would then spend half a day sorting and batching documents, by hand, in to department order for internal distribution.

As part of the authority’s corporate plan, the payroll team conducted a review of their business processes and decided to seek an online payslip solution.

Their payroll software offered an epayslip option, but the provider wasn’t willing to adapt its design and layout. This was important to the authority for employee engagement.

Switching payroll software would be expensive, so they needed a flexible, cost-effective epayslip provider who could  present data from their existing software.

Datagraphic’s Epay application met this challenge.

Being able to use data files from our existing payroll system made the transition process quicker, smoother and much more cost effective than investing in new software. From our Chief Executive down, I’ve received feedback praising the application.
